Cynthia Román joined the LAA in 2010 after a decade working in clinical settings, community organizations, program management and research in Puerto Rico and New York City. She is certified by the Academy of Certified Social Workers.
Román has a bachelor’s degree in social work and a master’s degree in social work from the University of Puerto Rico. She is receiving her PhD in social policy from the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras campus. Her doctoral thesis explores the relationship between the women’s rights movement, the state and domestic violence policies in Puerto Rico.
Román is originally from Puerto Rico and lives in Atlanta with her husband and son.
