Happy new year – we are so excited to start 2023 off with you!  2022 saw us celebrate our 50th anniversary empowering Latinos across Georgia to adapt, integrate, and thrive. Thank you for commemorating that momentous occasion with us. This year it feels as though we are able to leave the restrictions of COVID-19 behind. Our doors are open to the community Monday through Friday for services and additionally Saturday for ESL and Spanish classes.

As an organization, we’re putting together our 2023 goals and resolutions. First, we plan on continuing to collect better data from our community on their needs so that we can meet everyone where they are. Second, we continue to strengthen existing relationships and build new ones with partners and stakeholders. Last, but certainly not least, we are finalizing a new strategic plan that is informed by our leadership, staff, community members, partners and stakeholders focusing on three pillars – supporting our clients through emergencies and crises, helping clients build household stability, and then making clients – job/business ready through our economic empowerment programs. These pillars guide our community on a path to more sustainable economic mobility.

If you have new year goals and resolutions in 2023 – the LAA is a great place to start. This year resolve to sharpen up your English or Spanish skills with our adult education department. Resolve to get involved with us by volunteering in our food pantry or with ESL program or sponsoring and collaborating on some of our upcoming events like the 2023 Avanzado Juntas Conference on March 11 or our annual Compañeros Awards Luncheon on April 13, 2023.

Until next time,

Santiago Marquez
