More than 2,000 Latino high school students register for LAA youth conference

More than 2,000 Latino middle and high school students from all over Georgia have registered to attend the Latin American Association’s 17th Annual Latino Youth Leadership Conference on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Georgia State University. This year’s conference theme is “Education Is My Superpower.”

The daylong event offers Latino youth an unforgettable experience aimed at inspiring them to graduate high school and go on to college. Students from sixth to twelfth grades will listen to motivational speakers, participate in grade-specific workshops, walk through a College & Career Expo featuring colleges and universities, set foot on a college campus and network with other Latino students from other schools.

“This event is truly inspirational and the students love it,” says Eliezer Velez, the LAA’s managing director of youth programs. “They leave feeling empowered about their possibilities.”
