Our experienced social workers, all of whom are bilingual, meet with clients face-to-face and follow up with them for 90 days or more to ensure they have access to the resources they need to succeed. The LAA also provides community referrals and resources to our clients and hosts partners on a regular basis to talk to our families about various topics, including family planning, financial literacy, and child development.

Everyone is welcome to come to our center to receive services and information without an appointment. We see walk in clients at our office from 8:30 am until 11:30 am and between 1:15 pm and 4:30 pm. Please also note, the center is closed from 12 pm until 1 pm for lunch break every day.


Georgia’s Latino population has exploded over the past 20 years, with Hispanics now representing 11 percent of the residents of metro Atlanta. As the number of Latinos in the state continues to grow, so do the socio-economic disparities that exist for Latino families. One-third of Latinos in the Atlanta region, for instance, live in poverty, and thousands of Latino families face hunger.

Our Family Well-Being department professionals work closely with families to meet their basic needs and assist them in times of crisis so that they can achieve stability and self-sufficiency. The work of the Family Well-Being focus area includes the Latino Basic Needs Program, the annual Feria de Recursos Hispanos, the annual Spirit of Giving, and advocacy to address housing, health, and hunger for the Hispanic community.

The LAA serves primarily Latino families through the following family-stabilizing services:

  • Homelessness Prevention:
    • The LAA works with individuals and families who are facing homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless by providing emergency financial assistance for rent, mortgage, or utility payments and case management to identify and address challenges a family may be facing.
  • Benefits Enrollment:
    • The LAA’s highly trained, bilingual caseworkers assist clients in enrolling in public benefits they may be eligible for, such as SNAP, Medicaid, and PeachCare.
  • Food Provision:
    • The LAA also operates a modest food pantry that assists families in times of crisis.

We welcome donations all year long. For food pantry donations, please drop items off during our hours of operation listed above.

Applying for benefits

If you are applying for benefits (SNAP/Medicaid/Peachcare) make sure to have the following documents:

  • Client ID Number (if you’ve previously had benefits in GA, this number is the same)
  • Identification with photo (not expired)
  • Birth certificates + Social Security Cards (of anyone applying)
  • Most recent Utility Bills (Light, Gas, Water) in the name of the applicant
  • Lease Contract in the name of the applicant/ Form 821
  • Form 809 or Check stubs/ Employment Letter/ Self-Employment Forms

Renewing your benefits

If you are Renewing your benefits (SNAP/Medicaid/Peachcare) make sure to have the following documents:

  • Client ID Number
  • Identification with photo (not expired)
  • Most recent Utility Bills (Light, Gas, Water) in the name of the applicant
  • Lease Contract/ Form 821
  • Check stubs/ Employment Letter/ Self-Employment Forms
