The Latin American Association presents “Pathway to College,” a 5-part virtual series for students and parents. Join us as we explore the process of choosing the right college, completing application materials, applying for financial aid and scholarships, and the path to your future career. We will offer sessions at 11am and 6pm each day, with the same information presented at both (bilingually in English and Spanish!). 

1. CHOOSING THE RIGHT COLLEGE (JANUARY 14)

Finding the right college for you is not easy, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be fun and rewarding. The college search process will teach you a little more about yourself and your goals and desires.

2. THE COLLEGE APPLICATION: RESUME & ESSAY WRITING (JANUARY 28)

Do you need to polish your résumé, or you don’t have one yet? Not sure how to write your essay for the Common Application? Register for the second workshop of the “Pathway to College” series. We will discuss both topics in this session, designed especially for high school students. Walk away with a draft of each and a step closer to completing your college application.

3. FAFSA 101 (FEBRUARY 11)

The FAFSA is an important document that every student should submit to receive financial assistance for college. During the third workshop of the “Pathway to College” series, you will learn about this form, how to fill it out, how to submit it and the requirements for families with mixed immigration status.

4. MONEY TALKS: FINANCIAL AID & SCHOLARSHIPS (FEBRUARY 25)

During the fourth workshop of the “Pathway to College” series, we will discuss the different options available to pay for college. We will cover student loans, grants and scholarships.

5. THE PATHWAY: COLLEGE TO CAREER (MARCH 11)

Join us for the last workshop of the “Pathway to College” series! We will explore the pathway to succeed in college and achieve your dream career.
