The LAA Urges President Obama to Act Now on Deportation Relief

The Latin American Association urges President Obama to move forward with providing immediate deportation relief and economic opportunity to the millions of men, women and children who are long-standing community members, neighbors and contributors to the nation’s economy. While we continue to believe that comprehensive reform is the long-term solution to America’s immigration challenges, we urge the President to take immediate action to end deportations that tear families apart and to give families the means to support themselves.

The Latin American Association has been serving families since 1972. We see firsthand the debilitating effects of a broken immigration system. In recent months, we have seen a surge in the number of families with deported parents, an increase in economic hardship and a proliferation of workplace abuses such as wage theft. Our families are facing historic levels of hardship due to our country’s failure to update our antiquated immigration system.

We urge the President to act now.
