ATLANTA (Jan. 25, 2017)– The Latin American Association (LAA) presents the first annual La Feria de Educación Latina on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., at Atlanta Metropolitan State College. La Feria de Educación Latina, Georgia’s largest Latino expo focused on student success, is expected to attract 3,000 people.

La Feria de Educación Latina will bring together Latino families and the critical resources and services they need for their children to succeed in school. More than 100 community organizations and corporations will be participating at La Feria. The fair will feature colleges, financial aid resources, pre-K programs, youth after-school programs, health screenings, public health agencies, public libraries, community organizations and much more. There will also be workshops on topics like STEM education and affording college, as well as entertainment and prizes.

LAA board member Jason Esteves, who also sits on the Atlanta Board of Education, came up with the idea of La Feria de Educación in Georgia.

“La Feria de Educación Latina will offer a one-stop shop where Latino families can come across many services and resources they may not be aware of,” said Esteves. “And it gives nonprofits and other organizations the opportunity to reach out to the Latino community.”

La Feria aims to provide Latino families with access to resources and services to ensure children stay in school and graduate. According to the Pew Research Center, Latinos drop out of high school at a higher rate (12%) than blacks (7%), whites (5%) and Asians (1%).
La Feria de Educación is presented by the LAA, Welcoming Atlanta, Univision 34 Atlanta and MundoHispánico.
